Our first workshop on vacuum-assisted breast biopsy under ultrasound guidance was held on 11 – 12.05.2020. Despite the pandemic period, the event was held with the highest safety standards for both participants and patients.
The workshop was held at the Rabka Municipal Hospital under the direction of Wojciech Pirowski, MD, a specialist in general surgery and oncology, an outstanding specialist in mammotomic biopsy and the Medical Director of the Rabka Zdrój Municipal Hospital.
Participants gained knowledge in the following areas: technical aspects of functioning and operation of vacuum-assisted core-needle biopsy equipment, factual basics of performing vacuum-assisted core-needle biopsy, proper anaesthesia techniques, available biopsy methods, tissue hydrodissection techniques, tissue marker placement techniques and guidelines for perioperative patient recommendations.
The participants also took part in practical workshops and obtained an attendance certificate.
